Customers report that using the door lock button makes the vehicle think the keys are left inside, which causes the horn to honk three times. This behavior is due to the absence of a rear passive entry antenna, which limits the system's ability to detect the key fob location accurately.
The issue is caused by the absence of a rear antenna, which is necessary for full passive entry functionality.
Customers can add the rear antenna using two factory parts:
Rear Fascia Wiring Harness – Part #: 68475607AB
Passive Entry Antenna – Part #: 52112203AB
🧰 This is a plug & play fix — no splicing or custom wiring needed.
💵 Estimated Cost: $200–$300 (available on eBay)
For a more affordable route:
Purchase the antenna (52112203AB) alone.
Manually pin the antenna into the rear body harness using a compatible connector.
🧷 We have attached a pin location diagram showing where to connect the antenna into the rear harness.
🔧 This requires some wiring knowledge but offers a lower-cost fix.
If you're experiencing inconsistent door lock/unlock functionality with your passive entry kit, adding a rear antenna resolves the issue. Choose the method that best suits your comfort level and budget.

Ensure all wires are firmly seated and fully locked into the connectors.
Use a terminal/pin removal tool for precise and damage-free pin insertion or repositioning.
Always verify pin positions against the labeled connector layout (rows/columns) before inserting.
Confirm the Passive Entry door handles are OEM-compatible with your vehicle model and trim.
If Passive Entry does not function after installation:
Double-check wire colors and pin locations.
Inspect connectors for bent or unseated pins.
Confirm wire continuity between the harness and door module.
Verify Programming: Ensure the vehicle’s Body Control Module (BCM) is properly programmed for Passive Entry by using the provided OBD Genie programmer. This process adds the correct Sales Code GXD to enable the feature—verify successful programming before testing the system.
Check Fob Battery: Confirm that the key fob battery is functioning and properly installed.
Inspect Antenna Connections: Ensure that the Passive Entry antenna is connected and positioned correctly.
Check Antenna Placement: Verify that the Passive Entry antenna is installed in the recommended location and is not obstructed.
Inspect Wiring for Damage: Examine all wiring for signs of damage or wear that could affect signal transmission.
Perform a CAN-Bus Reset:
Disconnect the negative terminal(s) from the vehicle battery.
Wait 15–20 minutes.
Reconnect the battery terminal(s) and test the system.
Ensure Proper Handle Installation: Confirm that the door handles are installed correctly and that the mechanical components are functioning.
Verify Sensor Functionality: Test the touch sensors on the door handles to ensure they are responsive.
Check for Obstructions: Ensure that there are no obstructions or debris preventing the door handle sensors from detecting touch.
Check for Interference: Ensure that there are no devices nearby causing interference with the key fob signal.
Inspect Antenna and Module Connections: Verify that all connections to the Passive Entry module and antenna are secure.
