Genie Programming – Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

  1. Start the Vehicle
    Ensure your vehicle is fully started with the engine running—not just in accessory mode.

  2. Initial Plug-In
    While the engine is running, plug the Genie into the OBD port to begin programming.

  3. Check for Confirmation
    Listen for a horn honk and look for a green confirmation light. This indicates successful programming.

  4. If No Confirmation

    • Unplug the Genie.

    • Wait 10 seconds.

    • Plug it back in with the engine still running.

  5. Still Not Working?
    If you still don’t see a green light or hear a horn honk:

    • Observe the Genie’s LED light.

    • If it’s blinking red, take note of how many times it blinks, as this can help diagnose the issue.
