🔧 Uconnect 5 UBD Retrofit – Connection & Troubleshooting Guide

🗺️ 1. Port Overview (Color-Coded)

✅ 3. Installation & Verification Steps

1. Harness Prep

   • Unpack the three included harnesses:

     • C-INTC5T main conversion (includes camera inputs)
       

     • USB conversion

     • Fakra antenna adapter
       

     • 
       

2. Seat the 52-Pin Harness

   • Ensure the black 52-pin connector is fully engaged (lever latched).

3. Plug in Data & Audio

   • Light Blue + Light Green via C-INTC5T → listen for the “click.”

4. Attach Antennas & USB

   • White Fakra to AM/FM, Blue Fakra (via adapter) to GPS.

   • Brown USB harness → to the USB ports in dash.

5. Camera Connections

   • Backup (Red) and Cargo (Tan) inputs are already routed inside the C-INTC5T harness—no extra Fakra connections required at the UBD.

6. Secure & Tidy

   • Zip-tie unused Purple/Pink leads.

   • Bundle harnesses to prevent strain or interference.

⚠️ 4. Troubleshooting Checklist

🔌 1. No Power to the Screen

📌 If your climate controls work but the screen is blank, this likely indicates a screen/display or connector issue—not a programming failure.

• Ensure the 52-pin harness is fully seated
• Check Fuse F44 (1500DT) — 20A Yellow — inside IPDC
• Perform CAN-bus Reset:

  • Disconnect negative battery terminal(s)
  • Wait 15–20 minutes
  • Reconnect and test again

🌑 2. Blank or Black Screen

• Some installs require 24–48 hour acclimation to fully sync

• CAN-bus Reset can resolve initialization issues

🔇 3. No Sound

• Confirm Light Green audio plug is fully clicked into C-INTC5T
• If equipped with external amp (Alpine/HK), verify amp has power
• Perform CAN-bus Reset if all physical connections are solid

📵 4. CarPlay / Android Auto Not Working

• Enable Bluetooth + Wi-Fi on your phone

• Restart phone and vehicle

• Go to “Phone” > Bluetooth pairing on Uconnect 5

• If wireless fails:

  • Forget vehicle in Bluetooth list and re-pair

  • Enable Location Services (especially for Android Auto)

🌬️ 5. HVAC Issues Controls Missing or Unresponsive

• Ensure HVAC connectors were properly inserted at the bezel
• Visual Climate Control issues
  

• Confirm Genie Max is connected (required for 2013–2018 & 2019+ Classic)
  
• CAN-bus Reset may restore functionality:

  • Disconnect battery (negative terminal)
  • Wait 15–20 mins
  • Reconnect and test
• Reseat bezel harness to confirm HVAC connection

🎥 6. Backup or Cargo Camera Not Working

• Red and Tan Fakra ports are handled inside C-INTC5T — no external hookup required
  

• Confirm Genie Max is connected (required for 2013–2018 & 2019+ Classic)
• Confirm camera wiring is tied correctly to the vehicle-side input
• Use a test monitor to verify camera signal
• Perform a CAN-bus Reset to refresh communication
• Check for 12V camera power feed if the image is dead

🎛️ 7. Steering Wheel Controls Not Responding

• Ensure Light Blue plug is seated in C-INTC5T (CAN Data)
• Confirm Genie Max is installed (Classic/2013–18 only)
• Perform a CAN-bus Reset
• If still not working: check clock spring or steering column harness for damage

🔁 8. Soft Reset Uconnect 5 (Lag / Glitch / Freeze)

This reset will not erase user data or settings.

• With vehicle in Run (ignition on):

  • Press and hold Volume + Tune/Browse knobs
  • Hold for 5+ seconds until screen blacks out and Uconnect logo reboots

♻️ CAN-bus Reset Procedure

1. Turn off vehicle



2. Disconnect negative battery terminal(s) (disconnect both if dual battery)
   
   


3. Wait 15–20 minutes
   
   


4. Reconnect terminal(s)
   
   


5. Start vehicle and test all systems

🔧 4. GenieMax (2013+ Ram 1500 Classic & 2013-2018 Heavy Duty ONLY)

📌 Double-check the GenieMax placement and dip switch configuration.

• Confirm GenieMax is securely connected to the correct GenieMax plug on the C-INTC5T harness.
  

• Unplug GenieMax, perform a CAN-bus reset (battery disconnect), then reconnect and retry.

• Pop the GenieMax open and check that all DIP switches are in the correct position for your vehicle/year (diagram below).
