Whether you're using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, wired or wireless, here's what to do when it keeps disconnecting:
On your phone:
CarPlay: Settings > General > CarPlay > Forget This Car
Android Auto: Settings > Connected devices > Android Auto > Forget Car
In your car: Remove the phone from Bluetooth settings.
Reboot both your phone and car system, then re-pair.
Keep both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ON, even if not connected to the internet.
Disable your car’s Wi-Fi hotspot, which can interfere with the wireless link.
If the car supports both USB and wireless, try both to see which is more stable.
Phone OS (iOS or Android)
Car infotainment system firmware (check your car manufacturer’s site or app)
Apps:
Apple: No separate CarPlay app, but iOS updates matter.
Android: Ensure Android Auto, Google Play Services, and Google Maps are up to date.
Turn off Battery Saver, Low Power Mode, or Data Saver.
Set:
Android Auto to Unrestricted under app battery settings.
CarPlay to allow USB accessories (Settings > Face ID/Passcode).
Disable Focus Modes, Do Not Disturb, or VPNs while driving.
If the disconnects happen only during calls, when using maps, or in the same spot, it might be a software bug, network issue, or even electrical interference.
